Cookies.

A short, plain explanation of what this site stores on your device, why it does so, and how to change your mind.

What we use cookies for.

A cookie is a small file a website asks to keep on your device. This site uses very few of them, and none of them are used to advertise to you.

Keeping the site secure.

We check every request to the site for automated abuse, so that enquiries reach our team rather than a spammer's list.

Keeping pages quick.

A small amount of technical information helps pages load promptly and consistently for everyone.

Understanding what people read.

Aggregate visit numbers tell us whether our guides and case studies are reaching the people who need them.

The cookies themselves.

These are the only things this site puts on your device, and the only counting it does. There is no list of hidden trackers behind them.

NameWhen it is setWhat it does
__cf_bmAlwaysCloudflare's security cookie. It helps stop automated abuse, spam submissions and attacks against the site.
__dplAlwaysA first-party cookie that keeps page loads quick and makes sure you are served the current version of the site.
Cookie choiceAlwaysRemembers whether you accepted cookies or chose necessary ones only, so the banner asks you once rather than on every visit.
Visit countingNo cookieVisits are counted in aggregate from this site's own web address. Nothing is written to your device, no cookie travels with it, and it does not identify you or follow you across other websites.

Your choice.

When you arrive you are asked once: Accept all or Necessary only. Necessary only keeps the cookies the site needs to work safely — the security check and the performance cookie — and records that you did not consent to anything beyond them. Your answer is remembered in your browser, so you will not be asked again on this device.

Visit counting uses no cookie and writes nothing to your device, so it is not switched by this choice. It counts visits in aggregate only, and never identifies you.

Changed your mind? You can reopen the choice at any time.

What we do not do.

  • We do not run advertising cookies, and your visit is not used to build a profile of you.
  • We do not use social media trackers, so nothing you do here is shared back to a social network.
  • We do not sell or pass on your browsing information for marketing purposes to anyone.
  • We do not follow you across other websites, and no cookie here can do so.

You can also block or delete cookies in your own browser settings. Blocking the security cookie may stop some pages from loading properly.
